What's Trending - July 12

These are the things that are happening this morning, I'm going to start with the feel good story of the day today. The Thai boys who were trapped in that cave, they saw their parents for the first time. If you read this story, I can't imagine as a parent how you would feel if this were you and your kids. But wearing hospital masks and gowns and waving to family members through protective glass the freed Thai soccer players were finally able to have a reunion. Just crazy, three weeks being trapped in the dark as what is almost being described as a miracle. Great to read about this story this morning! I'm going to go with some sad news because I want to get to some happy stuff in just a little bit. Zaza, remember that English bulldog who won the worlds ugliest dog contest we were talking about last week? But Zaza passed away! Pardon my ignorance because I'm not a pet owner nor do I own a dog. But I didn't know the life expectancy for bull dogs according to the American Kennel Club is only 8-10 years. She was 9, sad stuff to hear about this morning. Oprah Winfrey, I mentioned I was excited about what she was doing but she's investing in a healthy restaurant chain, she's taking stake in True Food Kitchen. Her investment slated to help it expand across the United States; they're planning on doubling the store counts to about 46. Better for you options in a health driven restaurant chain, we could all use a little bit of that! And finally the Wisconsin economic development corporation, the state agency is awarding Madison with $500,000 grant to help boost the redevelopment of the former Oscar Meyer site right on the north side, you know where it is as you head up to the airport. That is trending this morning as well. Now I'm asking you, I put this on our Facebook page it's a mixed poll. What would you like to see come to Madison? What do you think would benefit this community if you could pick one thing? We're talking about this one Facebook, MIX 105.1.
